Street Lab produces temporary programs and installations in downtown Boston that:
- put underutilized space to use,
- pilot cultural and civic programming ideas so they can be experienced and evaluated today,
- broaden what we expect from the city and improve city life.
- developing expertise in implementing temporary programs in an urban environment,
- documenting and sharing expertise so others can do this work,
- wrapping up and dissolving Street Lab in five years time.
Street Lab partners with community groups, institutions, artists, and designers to conceive, develop, and produce projects that have an impact on the streets of downtown Boston. Our role can include:
- program conception and development
- identifying and securing space
- getting resources (funding, supplies, volunteers)
- site permitting and insurance
- outreach, partnerships, and public relations
- project management and other program operations
- evaluation and documentation
